Daily Prompts

My friends always call me a cat cuz of how I like pats on the head and how I tend to meow a lot. I think my favourite rhyme these days is definitely influenced by the amount of cat-related posts that pop up on my facebook feed.

” I fits I sits”

The Paddling Life

The Last (for now)

Victoria Dragonboat Regatta marked my last dragonboat festival for at least the next year or so. The feels didn’t hit me until the very last race when my friend (the pres) made his final speech. It made me realize that this was the last time where I’ll be racing with this family.

Sitting now, I realized how much each individual has grown. I watched our president start 3 years ago as a new paddler to now soon getting ready to go Germany. I saw how new family members come to love this sport anr embrace thia crazy family. I saw and experienced how much this sport help each individual and myself find a voice and confidence.

This year, we’ve grown as individuals, but also as a team. My team, as a whole, always had 2 mixed boats. Since year 1, I’ve always been on the “B boat.” We never established that togetherness, or we never felt like a team. After a year of hard cold/hot practices, we built a team. We stopped trying to imitate what our other half did or had. We started push each other to the limits and motivate one another to do so . And through that, we found what works for us and built on it. We stopped identifying ourselves not as B boat or the slower boat. We identified ourselves as (AMS) UBC Thunder. We believed and proved that we are a Comp A team. And we are strong.

We made our mark at our last race. We hit our personal best and raced our best race of the season. We didn’t take first place, but we left no regrets. And there’s nothing more we can ask for.

If you happen to be my team mate and reading this : Thank ya’ll for making a mark in my life . Thank you for letting me be part of your journey . Best of luck in the future, where ever it may take you. Don’t be afraid to be fast or strong. Just be you and do you . Thank you UBC Thunder for taking in this derpy penguin/cat and helping her grow to be a stronger person 🙂

Ohana means family. family over everything.

Also: heres the video to the final race 🙂 Not my video so can’t take credit 🙂 credits go to the person who uploaded this onto youtube 🙂

Done in a Jiffy

Jiffy : A short amount of time; moment (defined by Dictionary.com)

  1.  I usually hear people say “[insert task] done in a jiffy”. Are there other ways to use this word on a daily basis? Like phrases that we use everyday. Please comment and lemme know 🙂
  2. When I’m at work, I tend to be much more efficient. Things are done in a jiffy. Tasks like booking an emergency patient would be done in 5 min or clearing up my boss’s schedule would be done maybe in the hour if things go well. Simple morning tasks like emails or doing weekly deposits would be done in a jiffy.
  3. When I’m at home, I can’t seem to motivate myself to do things a short amount of time. Like folding clothes or putting in new bedsheets can be done in a jiffy. But I always seem to find a reason to procrastinate and just not do it until its absolutely needed. Is it just me? Or is this a normal thing?

Just a bit of rambles before I continue my studies 🙂 Have a lovely day where ever you are.

Daily Prompts · Life Thoughts

Organize thoughts

Maybe its just me. I always need something/ someone to help me organize the chaos of thoughts in my head.

When I need something to organize my thoughts, its usually related to school or things thats on my to do list. In my mind, that list seems really long and jumbled. But when I write it out, its actually a relatively short list. Why? because in my unorganized cloud of thoughts, the list has a lot of repeats. Hence, when organized the list is really short.

When I need someone to organize my thoughts, its usually related to life problems (i.e family things, problems etc.) They usually hear my unorganized thoughts in a massive ramble. They pick up the important points. And then organize it in a list for me. Again, what may seemed a lot things to organize isn’t very long. But having friends to organize my thoughts sometimes helps me see things differently. New ways and perspectives that I didn’t think of before.

Sometimes what may seem a lot isn’t actually a lot. Don’t be afraid to ask a friend for help when things seem overwhelming. Real friends won’t mind helping you organize your thoughts. Of course, you shouldn’t/wouldn’t mind to the same either. Because that’s what friends are for 🙂

Daily Prompts

I wasn’t going to post on it , but a thought just came 🙂

The word partner can be associated with many things like: Partner in crime (not illegal ones), Partner in a team, Partner in a game, or the more obvious one, a partner in a romantic relationship .

I think in each meaning theres one common thing – Partnership requires a certain amount of effort, trust and communication.

For me, I think part of how a partnership works is recognizing that each individual in the duo/trio/group will continuously grow. And all sides have to know that. And of course to encourage this growth . I think it as : growing stronger not just for the relationship but also for yourself. If we don’t see or realize that people grow, we may not recognize each other and things start to go down hill.

I guess I’m trying to say is that, take some time to stop and get to know your partner(s) of any type a little more 🙂
